Whistler Camping; Where to Park your Van overnight in Whistler, BC
Whistler is known for being the ultimate outdoor getaway, and what better way to keep the outdoor adventures going than to spend the night parked up in a forest spot.
But Whistler, unfortunately, can be a tricky place to stay in a van. We’ve been living in Whistler for the last eight years and over that time have known many friends who lived full time in their vans. Lots of people do stealth camp in Whistler (housing being incredibly hard to come by) and they all have their own secret spots to park up for the night. Unfortunately, sleeping in a vehicle overnight is not permitted in Whistler’s parking lots and roads, and there can be big fines if you are caught.
So, instead of setting you up for a knock on the van in the middle of the night and a big fine, we’re going to share with you the three official campgrounds in Whistler, with a budget, a mid range and a blow the budget luxury option.
Budget
Cal-Cheak Campground
$15 a night
These first come, first served, forest Rec sites are located about 20 minutes from Whistler. They have basic toilets, and tables, and are nestled in the trees with lots of shade for the hot summer days.
Mid Range
Whistler RV Park
From $45 a night
This popular campground in 17 km South of Whistler. They offer full electric hookups and more basic spots too with showers and other amenities like coin operated laundry.
Luxury
Whistler Riverside Resort
From $70 a night
The only campground to be actually in the village of Whister, Riverside Resort offers RV sites, tent sites and even luxury cabins and yurts. They are close to the village, and right next to the Scandinave Spa, if you want to unwind with Whistler’s most relaxing activity.
