Meet Willow: a van conversion featuring Habitat’s Modular Foundation Kit in Action

Willow is one of our latest van builds, a 2024 Ford Transit that’s been transformed with our modular Foundation kit to balance everyday usability and road-ready adventure. This van was designed and built in two stages, with the client originally focussing on the Foundation, then later adding furniture units and as much storage as possible through some smart cubbies. Willow highlights the flexibility of our Foundation kit, showing how you can create a functional, stylish, and cost-effective home on wheels without the long wait times of traditional van builds.

Willow was designed with dual purpose in mind; to serve as both a reliable daily driver and a comfortable weekend camper van. By building in stages, the project stayed flexible, allowing features to be added as needed and customized for the owner’s lifestyle.

Some of the key features of this van build include a Hide and go Seat (tucking away when not in use, to provide space when it’s needed most), a chamfered kitchen unit and cubbies, to give quick access storage and a streamlined designed for maximum functionality. Habitat’s RANGE bed system in a North/ South configuration is completed with a mattress extension that fits over the kitchen units, making the most of available space. Power comes from an Ecoflow Delta Pro Power System, a cost effective and versitle power setup, ideal for weekend getaways without the need for complex electrical installs. The 17-Gallon water tank with compact pump is effective and space saving, providing water without compromising storage. One of the primary focuses of Willow’s build was maximizing storage. With carefully placed cubbies and efficient modular furniture, every inch of space is put to use, perfect for those who need their van to function as both an everyday vehicle and a camper.

Like all Habitat builds, Willows furniture is crafted from marine-grade Baltic birch and built here, in the mountains of British Columbia, with every piece designed for durability, quality, and ease of installation.
